Bring Ultimate To Your School

We brought  Ultimate Frisbee to junior high and high school PE classes across Calgary last Spring and Fall, reaching more than 4,000 youth. As we look forward to the 2011 season, we’re hoping to meet and teach thousands more! Join in the action and bring ultimate to YOUR school. Here are some ways to get involved.

1) TEACH YOUR TEACHERSCalgary Juniors Ultimate will come to your school to host a Teach-The-Teachers sessions for your PE instructors. In one session, we’ll outfit your teachers with Ultimate basics, drills and learning activities to add to their PE curriculum. To book a Teach-The-Teachers session for your school, please contact Juniors Coordinator Tim Friesen at juniors@calgaryultimate.org.
2) OUTFIT YOUR CLASSA great tool for implementing everything you learned in our Teach-The-Teachers clinic, this starter kit can be purchased to outfit your class with 20 regulation size and weight ultimate frisbee discs, as well as a detailed teaching booklet to get you started in learning the sport. 4) START A CLUBMany Calgary junior high and high schools are actively forming Ultimate Clubs to give their students more opportunities to play. These clubs practice a few times each week and many meet up with other schools’ clubs for games. CJU is happy to help coordinate inter-school games, assist with coaching and/or help develop players who would like to take their game to the next level. To get your school club started and involved simply ask us for help.
3) BRING IN AN EXPERTWant to take your ultimate instruction to the next level? We’ll send seasoned players to your Club Practices to share coaching tips as well as run a session of skills, drills and a fun scrimmage to piece it all together! We can also help grow your school club’s talent pool and skill base with in-school clinics for your PE classes — just fill in our online form online form.

Note: **Booking preference for the in-school clinics will be given to those schools who have purchased an Ultimate Teaching Kit from us, are starting ultimate frisbee clubs, and who have teams attending the Calgary Youth Ultimate Tournament (CYUT).

5) PLAY IN A TOURNAMENTSummer 2011 marks our 3rd Annual Calgary Youth Ultimate Tournament. Schools from across Calgary and some from B.C. are coming. We have both a junior high and high school division and expect 16 teams – twice as big as last year!
